VPNs for ad-blocking With the launch of the PlayStation 5, the PS Plus Collection is now officially available. We’re keeping track of every game currently available on PS Plus Collection and will continue to update this guide as more games come and go. Typically, PlayStation Plus gives subscribers online multiplayer features (where required), free monthly games, and exclusive discounts, but PlayStation 5 users get the added benefit of PS Plus Collection. It’s a bit of a kick in the teeth for loyal PlayStation 4 owners who can’t get their hands on the next-gen successor. It’s especially rough considering the console’s price tag and global stock shortages. A few fine folks managed to find a loophole where PS Plus Collection games could be downloaded on PlayStation 4 using a PS5-connected PlayStation Network ID. But Sony has allegedly put the kibosh on the exploit, going as far as banning PlayStation Network accounts that used the loophole. My gut feeling says PlayStation users will “receive” free games quite positively, but what do I know? Sony only has to look to Xbox Game Pass to understand how customers will receive such a games subscription service when done right. Back in April, Xbox Game Pass surpassed 10 million subscribers worldwide, and off the heels of the Xbox Series S and X launch, Microsoft revealed that a whopping 70% of next-gen Xbox owners had an attached Game Pass subscription. Despite these comments and the rather limp launch of PS Plus Collection, it’s we’ll likely see more PS4 games added to the library, at the very least. Obvious contenders include more first and third-party exclusives like Killzone Shadow Fall, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us 2. If the last generation is any indication, it’s possible Sony is planning full-blown re-releases for a few of its first-party titles, which could throw a spanner in the works. Time will tell whether PS Plus Collection has legs. Wherever the service is going, it’d do well to follow in the footsteps of Game Pass.
