Here are a couple methods for taking screenshots on the Nexus 6P.
Method 1: Physical Button Press
The easiest way to take a screenshot is to hold down a combination of the buttons on your device. To take a screenshot on the 6P;
Step 1:
Hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons together. (It should only take a few seconds.)
Step 2:
You should now hear a shutter sound from your device to signify that the screenshot has been taken. (You should also be able to see the screenshot saved in your pull-down notification bar.)
Method 2: With the Onscreen Home Button
There’s also a second method for taking screenshots that might be more useful to you depending on how the physical buttons work. (Some users have reported difficulties when attempting the combination.) For this method;
Step 1:
Instead of using the Volume down button, you can press and hold the onscreen Home Button with the Power button to take your screenshot.
Step 2:
Again, you should hear a shutter sound from your device to signify that the screenshot has been taken.
Where can I find my screenshots?
A few users have reported they can’t find their screenshots in the main camera folder of their device, or even in their gallery. On Android 6.0 the default photos app won’t always show your screenshots in your image folder, so a different camera app could be helpful. You should be able to see the screenshot (and open the image) in your drop down notification bar after you’ve taken it. If your screenshots have got lost along the way;
Go to the main menu and navigate to Device Folders.Tap Device Folders, and your screenshots will be found here.
Alternatively, you can find the screenshots by;
Going to your Settings, and tapping Storage and USB.Tap Explore, and tap the Pictures option.Tap Screenshots to bring up the pictures you’ve taken.
Conclusion
It’ll probably take some practice, but you’ll get the combination eventually. It’s mostly a matter of timing, and it’ll help if you can stay patient while you get used to it. If you’re still having issues, it’s advisable to remove your case if you have one to see if that’s blocking your button presses, because that has solved the screenshot problems for quite a few owners.
