Now that the latest flagship smartphones have started releasing in 2016, it is the perfect time to take a look back at the giants from last year. Nexus 6P Vs Nexus 5X Vs LG G4 comparison aims to compare some of the most affordable smartphones released in 2015. While the latest flagships are enticing, they are also a lot expensive than these three smartphones. We already have two Nexus phones on this comparison table, and Nexus phones are famous for reasonable prices. Nexus 6P Vs Nexus 5X Vs LG G4 comparison will come in handy if you are on the edge about any of the smartphones and want to make a sensible decision. A lot of people wait a while for a smartphone to mature before committing to it. I tend to do the same because I just cannot face a malfunctioning device. Now that we have discussed the importance of getting an older device let’s start the comparison between Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and LG G4.

Size – Personal Preference

The size of the smartphone depends on the user. Some people really love large screened smartphones for good viewing pleasure. While others prefer a smaller form factor so that they can carry the smartphone around with ease. Thankfully we have different sized devices in the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and LG G4 comparison. For example, if you want a very large screened smartphone then the Nexus 6P will satisfy you with its 5.7-inch screen. The LG G4 comes with a tiny bit smaller screen size of only 5.5 inches while the Nexus 5X is a bit more manageable at 5.2 inches. Make no mistake, these are large smartphones and to be honest, a lot of people prefer them to be larger these days. If you’re worried about the weight, the Nexus 6P is the heaviest coming at 178 g; the next comes the LG G4 at 155 g and at the end comes the smaller sized Nexus 5X at only 136 g.

Aesthetics – Nexus 6P Wins

When it comes to aesthetics, all of these smartphones differ from each other in a lot of ways. The Nexus 6P comes with a unibody design and is shrouded in metal. The body is made from mainly aluminum which is a premium feeling of the material. The smartphone is available in three basic colors, and almost no customization is available in terms of back plates.

The Nexus 5X also has a unibody design but is mainly constructed of plastic. It is understandable because this device is meant to be cheaper than the Nexus 6P. This affordable smartphone comes in surprisingly 3 colors. However, you can customize the look of your smartphone by using one of the best covers for Nexus 5X.

Cases and Backplates – LG G4

The LG G4 is a plastic body but comes with a removable back. LG has also launched a lot of different colored leather backs for the smartphone. I have used the black one, and it felt superior in the hands. The curve on the back of the smartphone allows you to hold it with comfort despite its large size. For me, a removable back trumps almost anything, and I’m sure a lot of power users will agree with me. Due to the nature of the LG G4’s removable back, a lot of cases will be suitable for it. However, the other two smartphones will also have some amazing options available. We have already listed some amazing cases for Nexus 6P and some wonderful ones for Nexus 5X so make sure to take a look at them as well.

Screen – Nexus 6P Wins

Having a large size screen does help in the viewing experience. If you like browsing the Internet for hours on your smartphone or even playing video games, then you will really appreciate the extra real estate. The 5.7 inches of screen that Nexus 6P provides is simply amazing. The QHD resolution of the smartphone makes everything look sharp. Another thing to note here is that the Nexus 6P comes with an AMOLED display, making the colors vibrant and the viewing angles forgiving. A larger screen can provide an amazing movie watching experience, especially if you are using one of the best video players for Android available.

The LG G4 also has a QHD 1440 X 2560 pixel screen. The 5.5 inches provide a better PPI at the same resolution. However, the IPS LCD nature of the screen lacks the vibrancy of an AMOLED display. Don’t get me wrong; the smartphone still has the best screen to body ratio coming at 72.46% making it the best in this regard. However, the viewing angles are not as amazing as I would expect from a premium device. Coming at number third and understandably so, the Nexus 5X has a 5.2 inches screen which is only full HD. The IPS LCD works fine but when compared with the likes of other smartphones, it pales in comparison. But that all is understandable because it is not meant to be a high-end flagship device and the price will also reflect this.

Processor – Nexus 6P Wins

TheNexus 5X and LG G4 feature almost the same processor from QUALCOMM. The Snapdragon 808 in the smartphones is a hexacore processor clocked at 1800 MHz. The 64-bit processor is capable of delivering stellar performances and will not lag at all during the day to day usage. When I used the LG G4, I found it to be a very snappy device.

The Nexus 6P features the next model of the QUALCOMM Snapdragon processor; the 810. It is an octave core processor clocked at 2000 MHz. While in daily usage you won’t find any differences between all three devices in the Nexus 6P Vs Nexus 5X Vs LG G4 comparison, but on paper, Nexus 6P has the upper hand.

In the above chart, we can clearly see that the Nexus 6P has the better processor of the three smartphones we are comparing.

Gaming and GPU – Nexus 6P Wins

When it comes to gaming, the Nexus 6P features an Adreno 430 GPU which is an upgrade from the 418 featured in the Nexus 5X and LG G4. As they say, a better GPU will result in a much smoother and better gaming experience.

So, if you are looking for the best gaming experience among these three devices, the Nexus 6P is the most future proof option. So, if you are aiming to play the best racing games for Android or even boast around with the best looking games for Android, then the Nexus 6P is a great option.

Memory and Storage – LG G4 Wins

The Nexus 6P and LG G4 both come with 3 GB of RAM. The LG Nexus 5X features only 2 GB of RAM. While in daily usage RAM doesn’t matter that much but if you are a power user, I would highly recommend going with the three GB RAM smartphones.

When it comes to storage space, the LG G4 wins hands down. This is because the smartphone comes in 32 GB and 64 GB variance but also has a microSD card slot. This means you will be able to bolster further the storage space in your smartphone. A microSD card slot is essential if you love watching high-quality movies on your Android device and LG certainly knows the importance of that.

Cameras – LG G4 Wins

If you’re in the market for the best camera smartphone, you will have a hard time selecting between Nexus 6P Vs Nexus 5X Vs LG G4. While there are slight differences between each smartphone, the Nexus brothers share the same camera module. The LG G4 has a slight edge with optical image stabilization and its manual mode but so does the Nexus phones with its bigger pixel size. However when comparing the megapixels, the LG G4 has the upper hand with it 16 megapixels compared with 12.3 MP featured on the Nexus smartphones.

Selfies – Nexus 6P and LG G4

The front facing cameras all are 8 MP, so there is very little to compare there. However, if you are making Vine videos than the optical image stabilization feature in the front camera of LG G4 will come in handy. Overall the LG G4 has a slight advantage over the smartphones, but the advantage is very negligible if you ask me.

Battery – Nexus 6P Wins

Surprisingly, healthy smartphones feature a great battery timing. However, if you strictly want to stick to the hardware specs, the Nexus 6P wins hands down. The smartphone features a 3450 mAH battery which is almost 500 more than the one featured on the LG G4, and 800 more than the Nexus 5X.

One would imagine that the bigger battery will result in the longer battery timing, but that is not the case here. All three smartphones score almost the same when put through battery stress tests.

So, whatever phone you choose, you will get a good battery life out of it. Don’t expect any miracles from all three of the smartphones, though.

Sound – LG G4 Wins

When it comes to outputting sound, the LG G4 is the loudest of the lot. A lot of closed unibody smartphones suffer from what I call the muffled syndrome, and that is the problem with the Nexus 5X. While the Nexus 6P is still superior for watching movies thanks to its dual front-facing stereo speakers, when it comes to loudness, the LG G4 wins.

Unique Feature – 3-Way Tie

The Nexus smartphones come with a fingerprint sensor which can help you log your phone in an instant. It also provides you with a higher level of security than a passcode. The Nexus 6P finger sensor works almost instantly and by the time you take out your smartphone from your pocket, it is already unlocked and ready to be used.

The LG G4, on the other hand, comes with a removable back. This means you will not only be able to swap the battery but also utilize the microSD card slot built-in. I know, not a lot of many people carry a spare battery around these days, but it is always better to have this option. The only reason the removable back can be skipped is if the smartphone is water and dust proof. Unfortunately, the both Nexus phones are not waterproof at all.

Conclusion

If I had the funds to purchase a flagship, I would lean towards the Nexus 6P because it is the most future proof option available. However, if I wanted a great performer for a lot less money I would go with the LG G4. The Nexus 5X is an excellent smartphone with surprisingly great specs available for a very reasonable price. Let’s face it, when a new smartphone arrives there are bound to be some software or hardware issues with it. And we don’t want to be stuck with a device that may or may not work perfectly. Thankfully, we have the option of waiting out and getting an updated and reliable device after a little time. The biggest benefit of waiting is that you will get a fully stable device and at a reduced price. It’s a win-win situation if you ask me, especially now that the technology is not advancing as fast as it used to be. So if you want a handy smartphone which sits smugly in your pocket, the Nexus 5X is an excellent option. The ultimate decision, however, is all in your hands. Do tell us what you think about this comparison and how we can improve the comparisons for you. We will be looking forward to your feedback. Special thanks to PhoneArena for benchmark comparisons.
