While you can’t directly change how much money you get for surveys, you can help influence how many surveys you get overtime. Like with any survey system, Google Opinion Rewards is usually looking for a certain demographic to poll. I’ll help you understand what that demographic is, and how to capitalize on how the system works.

How the Google Opinion Rewards System Works

The system for Google Opinion Rewards is pretty simple. You buy something from a Google store, answer a survey about what you bought at a later date if applicable, and then get credit added to your Google Wallet to use through Google services. That’s at least the basics of how it works, there are still different factors and criteria that Google is looking for from its users that determines when you get surveys and offers. Setup is thankfully easy as long as you have a Google Wallet, and answering surveys is even easier and takes as little as ten seconds. Since the setup process is covered by the Google Opinion Rewards app pretty well by itself, let’s jump straight into the criteria and factors that Google is looking for.

What is Google Looking for from Its Users?

Now that you know how the system works, you need to know what Google is looking for from you. Some factors that Google is searching for are inherent with your background, and others are just about how you conduct surveys. Whatever the case, here’s what you need to do, and need to know, to make sure you get the most out of Google Opinion Rewards.

1. Be Honest and Consistent

This is the number one rule for survey sites in general, so it definitely still applies to Google Opinion Rewards. When you’re asked a question, and when doing your initial setup, always be honest with your answers to each question. If you start giving inconsistent answers you’ll notice that you’ll start getting fewer offers, less rewards, and eventually nothing through the system at all. You’ll probably see a brief spike in offers and rewards if you just answer whatever you think the survey wants, but at the same time you’ll ruin any long term reward potential you have. For Google Opinion Rewards, honesty is the best policy.

2. Enable High Accuracy Location Services and Travel

One of the biggest factors that Google Opinion Rewards uses is your GPS and location to figure out what region you’re in for the right offers and appropriate rewards. If you have all of this turned off, you end up getting far fewer offers to earn what you need. If you aren’t sure if you have this disabled, there’s an easy way to check your location services status. First:

Open your Settings. In your Settings, go to Location. From there, enable location services by switching a toggle, or checking a box.

At the same time, if you have your phone setup like mine, I have location services in my quick menu so I can toggle it on and off at a moment’s notice. While having high accuracy on is helpful for Google Opinion Rewards, it’s an extra workout for your battery. When I’m not using a service that benefits from it, I leave it turned off. Another reason why you need it on is so Google Opinion Rewards can track when and where you’re traveling. While that doesn’t sound like information you want the system knowing, it helps earn you surveys if your phone shows you visiting multiple locations. If your phone is trapped at home all day, you’ll probably notice you’re getting less offers.

3. Stay Positive

While honesty is still the best policy, and staying consistent is important, it’s no surprise that these surveys favor positive responses more than negative ones. If you’re rating everything you experience poorly, then you’ll soon find that you aren’t getting anymore surveys. On the other hand, if you rate everything highly, you’ll see better rewards and offers overtime. It’s unfortunate that only positively beneficial responses have more weight, even if you have valid complaints, but it’s how the system works. Don’t lie about your experiences to earn more rewards, but keep in mind how your responses are viewed.

4. Always Update the App as Soon as Possible

The Google Opinion Rewards app has a hard time getting new offers to you directly if your app isn’t up to date, so if you ever get a notification about a new update, update your app immediately. If you don’t, you’re missing out on your chance for more opportunities that could add up to your next big purchase. The updates for Google Opinion Rewards normally don’t take long, and aren’t large, so don’t ignore them if you want to get the most out of the system.

5. Open the App Daily

Much like with updating the app, if you don’t constantly check in with it, you won’t get new offers as quickly as you should. You don’t necessarily have to complete any offers or redeem anything when you open the app, having it open once per day is enough. This ensures that you’re still an active user of the app, and will receive as many offers as possible as they’re available to you.

6. Don’t Let Rewards Expire

Just in case you didn’t know, you rewards can expire! All of the Google credits you’ve accumulated can disappear if you hold onto them for too long, so you can’t stockpile them all forever. All of your credits have dates next to them when you check your earnings, so keep track of these to make sure you don’t lose out on anything you’ve earned previously. It’s unfortunate that rewards have a time limit on them, but thankfully you can easily track which rewards are about to expire, and when.

Influential Factors that You Can’t Change

While most factors to earn more with Google Opinion Rewards are within your control, two special factors aren’t. The number one factor that determines how much you earn, and how many offers you receive is your location. Most offers come from the US, so if you’re living there, you’re in good shape. If you’re located outside of the US, you unfortunately have to deal with slim pickings, even though you still have access to the app. The second is the time of year. You’ll see a high amount of offers during the Christmas season, as long as you’re still making purchases, but the same amount of purchases during December still gets you much more than in August. There isn’t much you can do about this, but you can still make sure to focus on using the app much more during the early winter months to ensure you get the best offer possible, and the most out of Google Opinion rewards during the holiday season.

Conclusion

Google Opinion Rewards isn’t going to make you a fortune, but it will help supplement your purchases with a little extra credit. It’s a survey system that needs you to spend money to make money, but if you already make multiple Google purchases, signing up to Google Opinion Rewards is a no brainer.
