Method 1: Soft Reset
The simplest way to factory reset your device is through the settings. Again, be sure to back up your data before you start the process. The reset can be done by:
- Opening your Settings and navigating to Backup and Reset.
- Tap Factory Data Reset.
- You should now see a prompt appear onscreen asking you to confirm the reset.
- Confirm, and press Reset Device. Your phone should now be restored to factory settings.
Method 2: Hard Reset
If the first method isn’t working for you or you can’t access the Settings Menu, there’s another way to reset the device; using the Maintenance Boot Mode menu.
- Turn off the device.
- Once the S6 is switched off, hold the Volume up, Home, and Power buttons down simultaneously.
- Kept the buttons pressed down until the phone loads into the boot menu.
- From here, navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the volume keys to move up and down. The power button confirms your selection.
- Go to Yes, delete all user data, and uses the power button to confirm once again.
- The device will now start the factory reset.
- Once complete, press the power button one final time to restart the device.
