Delete Instagram account on Android

Instagram account deletion is easy. Here are the two ways you can delete your Instagram account.

Temporarily disable Instagram account on Android

Should you disable your Instagram account?

This method comes in handy for those who wish to avoid any sort of distraction in their study time, trips with friends, and those who care about their digital well-being. By cutting down your time on social media and giving yourself a break, you have time to rejuvenate and connect to nature and the real people around you.  Thus, temporarily disabling the Instagram account is a better alternative in such cases than permanently deleting your account. When you temporarily disable your Instagram account, your account data – photos, videos, likes, comments, etc., – will be hidden until you reactivate the account by logging back in.  Note that you can temporarily disable your Instagram account only from a PC or web browser on Android. The feature isn’t available on the Instagram app.  Check out this simple step-by-step procedure to temporarily disable your Instagram account on Android.  Login to your Instagram account on your web browser on Android Tap Edit profile Locate the ‘Temporarily disable my account’ option in the bottom right Next, select a reason for why you want to disable your account and enter your instagram account password. The disable button will not be enabled until you select a reason for account deletion request. Finally, tap on Temporarily Disable Account Although Instagram app doesn’t allow you to disable the account temporarily, you can do so from your web browser with a few taps. Another point worth mentioning is that if you don’t want to disable the account, you can block certain people and set your posts to private right from the Instagram app under Profile > Settings > Privacy > Private account. To block a user, just go to the user profile, tap the menu button, and select block.

Permanently delete Instagram account on Android

Should you delete your Instagram account?

If you are done with Instagram and wish to give up on it forever, or if you simply want to delete a long-inactive second account, then this is the right option for you.  Again, you can’t permanently delete your Instagram account from the Instagram app. You’ll have to delete it either from your PC or mobile browser.  Remember, when you delete your Instagram account, your profile information, photos, videos, likes, comments, followers, and other information will be permanently deleted. Consider disabling your account temporarily if you don’t want this to happen. Moving on, here’s how you can permanently delete your Instagram account. Go to the Delete your account page on your browser Enter the login credentials Next, select a reason for why you want to delete your account and re-enter your instagram account password. The delete button will not be enabled until you select a reason and enter the password. Finally, tap the Delete button If you want to delete another account, tap your profile photo on the top right corner of the delete account page. Next, tap Settings and select log out. Now, login to the second account you want to delete and follow the above steps to delete the account.  After 30 days of this action, your Instagram account will be permanently deleted. You would no longer be able to retrieve the information and the account will be kept private from all other users.  I highly recommend that you download a copy of your data on Instagram. To do this, go to your Profile > Menu > Settings > Security > Download data. Next, enter the email address to which you would like to receive the data and enter your account password, and tap next. Finally, select Done to complete the process.  Soon after, you’ll receive an email from Instagram with the title “Your Instagram Data.” Tap on the link to download data. Tap on “Download data” and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the download.  Suggested reads: How to Upload Video to Instagram From PC How to Save Videos from Instagram to Android
