Whether it be the cable, an app, or even just your Android, something eventually steps in and causes a problem. If you’ve noticed your quick charging method isn’t working as fast as it used to, or just isn’t working at all, we can help. Starting from the top of the list, all the way to the bottom, these steps will make sure quick charging works for you again. Please note, certain Androids will not take advantage of fast charging if your charger does not support adaptive fast charging, or if the screen is turned on.

1. Secure the Cable

You wouldn’t believe how many of these problems are caused by a cable not wanting to fit in right and do its job. Even if you’re absolutely sure your charging cable is fitted securely, pull it out, and put it in again. Make sure there aren’t any gaps that you can see between your Android and the cable. If you’re using a wireless charger, make sure the charger itself has a sufficient charge by plugging it in and then letting it sit for a few minutes. After you’re sure everything is secure and operating properly, try charging your Android again.

2. Reset Your Android

If everything is secure, maybe a quick reset will solve the problem. Make sure your Android is unplugged from all power sources. Power your Android down completely, and then wait at least fifteen seconds before powering it on again. Once you’re past your boot screen, hook up your charger, or place it on your wireless pad. If it still isn’t charging fast enough or not all, there’s still more to try.

3. Let Your Android Battery Run Dry

Every once in a while it’s a good idea to let your battery run all the way down to 0% before charging it back to full again. If you haven’t done this before, or it’s been a few months, give this a try when you have the time on hand before charging again. Make sure to let your battery run completely dry to the point where your phone shuts off, and then hook it up (preferably to a normal charger) until you reach 100%. The next time you need to charge your phone, try quick charging again and see if you run into any problems. Note: This is a very generic tip and it’s recommended to check out your smartphone brand’s website for optimum battery health guidelines. Samsung, for example, advises its users to maintain their phone’s battery between 40% and 80%.

4. Pull Out or Switch Your Battery

This only applies if your battery is removable, or if you don’t mind voiding your warranty. If you can avoid it, I don’t recommend pulling out your battery if it isn’t meant to be removed. Power down your Android completely, and then wait at least fifteen seconds. When time is up, remove your battery and let it sit for a few minutes before you put it back in. If quick charging still isn’t working properly, consider replacing your battery if it’s been underperforming lately.

5. Try a Different App

If you’re using an app to try and charge your Android faster than normal, why not try a different one? If you aren’t using it already, take a look at Fast Charging Pro: Fast Charging Pro Download If that app doesn’t work for you, Battery Turbo is another excellent choice: Battery Turbo Download If you aren’t already using an app to try and charge your Android faster than normal, try one of the two above and see if you notice any differences.

6. Replace Your Cables or Charger

Sometimes the solution to your quick charging problem is as easy as replacing either the cables or the charger itself. If you’ve already gone through the steps before this one, there’s a pretty good chance the cable or the charger is the problem. An easy way to rule out your cables or charger is to try charging another device besides your Android. If you run into the same problem, it’s most likely either the charger or the cable at fault.

7. Employ the Full Troubleshooting Toolkit

At this point, if you’ve tried everything else, there’s something going on with your Android that’s causing the problem. Rather than detailing every Android troubleshooting step there is, take a look at our guide for the basics. Once you follow all the basic steps, you’ll be able to use quick charging again without any problems in sight.
