If you’re looking for a rundown of apps that any serious Chelsea supporter should definitely consider, you’ve come to the right place. From practical calendar applications to Temple Run clones, there’s something on offer for fans of all ages. Here’s a list of 10 affiliated apps, with information about what to expect from each.
1. Chelsea FC Fancal
If you’re looking for a dedicated calendar app, the Chelsea Fancal should cover your needs. It’s free, and it integrates with your calendar so you’ll always know when the next match is on. The background image changes every day to reflect a memorable moment in Chelsea’s history. To top it off, it’s a very well presented app, that’s clean, clear, and easy to use. Free Version
2. Chelsea FC Official Keyboard
You can customize your keyboard with the official Chelsea FC keyboard app. It’s easy to install, and it comes with an additional news feed accessible from the app itself; which is a nice added touch. However, it didn’t always offer word predictions—which is annoying if you use them frequently like I do. The Chelsea banner across the top is slightly distracting, but it’s colorful, and it’s the best you’ll find if you want a Chelsea keyboard on your phone or tablet. Free Version
3. Stamford the Lion App
This app is suited more for younger supporters. Essentially, it’s a rhythmic tapping game where you play a game of kick-ups with Chelsea’s mascot, Stamford the Lion. You can take on John Terry’s score, and dress the lion up with unlockable gear, with a few different kits on offer. While it asks to integrate your Facebook account, thankfully, it’s possible to skip this step. Annoyingly, it did spam my device with a few messages roughly ten minutes after I was finished testing the app, so I ended up blocking it. It’s a simple game, but it’s not bad, and it generally receives good reviews from supporters, but it hasn’t been updated for the 2015/16 season at the time of writing. 4. Chelsea FC Fantasy Manager ’16
If you consider yourself a mini-Mourinho, you can try out the Chelsea FC manager app, but be warned, it’s no Football Manager. It’s more like a browser game with resource management aspects. If that piques your interest, it could be worth downloading. The game is also plagued with in-app purchases. If you buy something, they offer to remove all adverts, (like the large ad usually found at the bottom of the screen) but it doesn’t seem worth the expense.If you’re desperate for a management sim, it’s probably worth it to pony up the cash for Football Manager 2015 or a similar ‘full-fat’ alternative. It also started to spam my phone with notifications as soon as I set the phone aside. If you’re happy with a watered-down experience with a few basic RPG elements thrown in, it could be worth a try if you’re up for playing other users in an online fantasy football management game. 5. Chelsea News – Sportsfusion
Keeping up to date with the latest sports news is fairly easy with the internet, but it can be useful to have the information in one handy place on your device. If you want to remove ads, it will cost you roughly $3, but they aren’t exactly intrusive, so it probably isn’t worth the expense. The layout is navigable, and the articles tend to get a decent number of responses from other users. If you want to discuss the latest news from an app with (mostly) like-minded supporters, Sports Fusion is probably one of the best for that. Free Version
6. Chelsea Runner
If you’re in the market for a new endless runner game (like the famous Temple Run), you could do worse than the Chelsea branded version. It takes place on the streets of London, via the Chelsea team bus. If does offer in-app purchases (IAPs) for a variety of boosts, but there’s no reason why you can’t play for free until you get bored. It’s fun for what it is, and it doesn’t feel like a blatant cash-grab despite being a copy. You can unlock the full team and even the manager himself, and while it isn’t the best endless runner on the market, where else can you jump red buses with Diego Costa? Free Version
7. Chelsea FC Magazine
This app is essentially a platform that you can use to purchase and view the official monthly CFC magazine on your device. That’s all it offers, and there’s no free content to be found. Considering you can find dedicated news apps, it’s a slightly questionable purchase. But, for the dedicated supporter, it’s a useful addition if you want the exclusive news and features on offer. 8. Chelsea Calendar
This calendar is an alternative to the Fancal, and it offers a slightly different experience for the user. It has more detailed information about match statistics and players, but it lacks the integrated news feature that the Fancal boasts. It depends on what you want from a calendar app, so it’s worth testing both to see which is right for you. Free Version
9. Chelsea FC Striker Challenge
It’s hard to explain what this game actually is without seeing it in action, but it’s basically another rhythmic tapping game with slightly better graphics than average. You tap the ball in time to an onscreen prompt and avoid defenders as it travels towards the goal, and you have to slot the ball past a (slow) moving keeper. It’s hardly the most revolutionary idea, but it’s a decent way to pass a few minutes, and there are a few unlockables (different Chelsea players) for you to work towards if you get hooked. 10. Eden H. football Wallpapers
If you want to show your loyalty to the team, you can do so with a custom Eden Hazard background. This app has a collection of scalable images of the Belgian maestro for your device, including a few photos while on international duty.
